Family Photo: The Linscott's

It was a beautiful fall day yesterday when we took these family portraits. There was a nice chill in the air, which is not expected but definitely welcomed in fall in Southern California. Dan, Alex and Ada withstood the cool chill in the air to get some warm family photos. Aren't they a beautiful family?
Miss Ada was ready for her time in front and behind the camera. She enjoyed looking at the photos. After I would take a few I would show them to her on the camera. I think the highlight was singing "Happy Birthday" to all of the little friends we used to get her attention. It's funny what you have to do to get a toddlers attention, like sing Happy Birthday to a stuffed animal this is on your head:) We also sang to her buddy Me-may, who took rides in the wagon and rocked in the rocking chair. It was fun to see her little personality come to light. What a spunky little doll!

This is Me-May, Ada's little buddy!

Kera Joy: Newborn

It was "pure joy" to photograph Kera. After all her name means "pure". This little one slept like a princess through the entire individual portion of the shoot. She wanted a piece of the action while her two older brothers were around. After they left, she was in dream world and we got some very angelic photos of her. At 7 days old she already experienced a lot of love from her brothers and others.

This was my first time using a bean bag for a newborn shoot and boy did that make a huge difference in posing. Jenny and Matt are dear friends of ours and I not only got to be there for the birth of Kera, but also got to photograph her. It was such a blessing!

Couples Fun

Yesterday Jamie Dulaney and I got to spend time with some couples from the Foothill Free Methodist Church in Azusa. Most of them are students that are in a small group with our friends Adam and Becca Carpenter. I have never seen a group of people love on a little girl as much as these students love on Little Sophia. They just adore her. It is so cute. They are like family to Adam, Becca and Sophia. They all talk to her in Chinese. It will be so fun to hear Sophia speaking Chinese in a few years.
We met them at California Institute of Technology in Pasadena. We started the afternoon with a birthday celebration for Clare who turned 26. Happy Birthday Clare! It is Chinese tradition for the birthday girl to cut the cake first and then everyone cuts the cake in order of who's birthday comes next. I love how the Chinese are so rich in tradition. After the celebration Jamie and I took each couple around Cal Tech to take portraits of them. Unfortunately, when we got to the last two couples security paid us a visit. Apparently you have to have a permit to take pictures there if you are not a student. We just moved on toward the street and finished up. We will take Jamie's husband Tim with us next time or get a permit. Below are some of my favorites. I was really happy with how they turned out and I hope they are too.

Aiden: 1 year

Aiden turns one in a week. Isn't he just a doll? He is having a Noah's ark birthday party. His mom brought this cute little Noah's ark plush for the pictures. We started with some indoor pictures with some black and white back grounds. Aiden was on the move, so we moved outside. Thankfully the rain let up for a while so we could get some nice shots. The light was perfect...overcast! I really like the look of the brown fence with Aidens outfit, so we tried this one next to the wood. I am happy with how it turned out.
